Heating Repair
Sometimes heating repair is simple and it's something that can be fixed easily. Other times, fixing a heater takes a crew of heating repair professionals working for hours to get things straightened out.
At home, if you would like to try and fix your heater first, check the obvious things. Did a circuit breaker flip? Is the heating system set correctly in terms of "fan" "heat" or "a/c"? If you're not comfortable doing anything with the actual outdoor unit then you should definitely call in a heating repair professional so as not to risk your own safety.
If you check outside and the condensing fan motor doesn't run, you could have a bad capacitor or a bad motor. Check the fan blade. Is it stiff or hard to turn? If so, then you probably need a heater repair professional to replace a motor.
If the unit won't start or won't stop, it is possible that bugs or dirt have come between the contactors for either the "on" or "off" position. You can use a can of compressed air to blow across the contactors to see if that will repair the heater. For anything less obvious, it is only prudent to call in a heating repair professional.
