Commercial Refrigeration
Commercial Refrigeration service is our core foundation and Air Wave Technologies, Inc. is proud to service some of Americas largest companies. Our commercial refrigeration services range from large refrigerated cold storage boxes to restaurants and markets. Our lion share of the refrigeration market comes from the food service and hospitality industries. We offer year round service, maintenance, new equipment, and emergency service reducing to reduce downtime and prevent spoilage.
Commercial Refrigeration Systems are used in today's society more than ever as people in every part of the world turn to refrigeration to protect and preserve food, to display refrigerated food and to store frozen foods. Some commercial refrigeration systems consist of central refrigeration systems that are connected to multiple refrigeration units, such as a walk-in refrigerator, a walk-in freezer, and a refrigerated display case.
The choice of commercial refrigerant will change depend upon the specific application it is used for. In the past quarter-century, commercial refrigeration systems have transitioned from using chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) which harmed the earth's ozone layer, to using hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Other refrigerants include ammonia, hydrocarbons, and carbon dioxide, but they are used to a lesser extent.
For commercial refrigeration, HFCs appear to have the best utility for commercial refrigeration. They are available throughout the world, are low in toxicity, energy efficient, and are safe and reusable. Because of the energy efficiency of HFCs, commercial refrigeration systems that use them consume less in the way of fossil fuel that is used to generate electricity, thus indirectly cutting down on greenhouse gases.
Commercial refrigeration systems are used more widely every day, and fortunately, technological advances are allowing the increased use in places that have never had it before, with less impact on the environment.
Industrial Refrigeration
Air Wave Technologies, Inc. as been an industry leader in industrial refrigeration for over 20 years. We specialize in injection molding, Process Cooling and Blown-Film used in the manufacturing of plastics. We also serve cold storage facilities, supermarkets and many other industrial applications. We can custom tailor a preventative maintenance to suit your needs and provide you with emergency service 24 hours a day. You can rely on us to be there even on weekends and holidays.
Industrial refrigeration is somewhat different from commercial refrigeration. "Industrial refrigeration" units are usually defined as those of 100 tons or larger. The most common refrigerant used in industrial refrigeration is ammonia. These systems are centralized systems as opposed to commercial equipment which is modular and usually not centralized. With industrial refrigeration, load temperatures are typically -60 degrees Fahrenheit to 55 degrees Fahrenheit and at least one load below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Industrial refrigeration is primarily used for storage and processing of food, such as in refrigerated warehouses. Industrial refrigeration is used for fruit and vegetable processors to frozen pre-packaged meal storage. It is also used by breweries and wineries, dairy processors, meat, poultry, and fish processors.
With new attention being paid to the environmental harm that can result from excessive or wasteful energy use, industrial refrigerator manufacturers are concentrating fervently on improving energy efficiency. Not only is this useful to the businesses that use industrial cooling, but it often results in those same businesses receiving very generous tax credits in the United States and other countries.
Some industrial refrigeration companies have informative websites with special pages that let potential customers enter some of the specs of the system they want and receive an immediate computer-generated drawing of it. Industrial refrigeration often has to be created in custom sizes, and most companies have the capacity to do so.
